Match Report
The season kicked off with a fiercely contested match against one of our key rivals, Alty Boro. The competition was intense throughout, with some outstanding individual performances.John Gethins put in a superb display against Danny Baines, pushing him all the way before narrowly missing out, with Baines securing a 21-15 victory. Similarly, Steve Basky delivered an excellent performance against Andy Raymond in a match that could have gone either way, but Raymond managed to edge it at 21-18. One of the standout performances of the evening came from Stotty, who demonstrated exactly why he recently claimed the Landlords Trophy. He put in a dominant display to defeat John Burgess to just 9. Meanwhile, Martin Ogiliev showed great determination against Mike Barnett. Despite nearly letting a strong lead slip, he held his nerve to close out the game with a 21-14 victory. A special mention goes to our newest Greenman, Ian Wilson, who made his home debut in superb fashion, settling in quickly and putting in a strong performance. Overall, it was a fantastic effort from the team, culminating in a solid total of 158 points—an improvement of 14 on last season’s fixture. A promising start, with plenty of positives to take forward into the next fixture.

Match Report
It was a night full of promise and passion as the team took on our biggest rivals in what turned out to be a gripping contest that, with a bit more luck, could have swung even further in our favour. The evening kicked off with Jacko and The Law Man leading the charge. Jacko was simply immense, delivering a brilliant display of bowling that set the tone early. His control and confidence never wavered as he powered to a 21-14 win, a result that got the team fired up right from the start. Steve Basky followed and put in a solid effort against the ever-consistent Dave Phillips. Steve had his moments, but Dave was sharp and composed, playing some quality ends to come out on top 21-12. Next, Ian Wilson stepped onto the green and showed exactly why he's held in such high regard. His game against Andy Birtles was a masterclass—full of composure, sharp decision-making, and flawless execution. Ian barely put a foot wrong and cruised to a commanding 21-11 win .Sean Chappell rounded off the first four, taking on Richard Hindley in what turned into a gritty and determined contest. Sean kept his head, played the smart shots, and earned a 21-15 victory, sealing an excellent start for the team and earning himself the Captain’s Man of the Match in the process. As the second half began, the momentum faced a stern test. Stotty took on Craig McGuigan in a match that didn’t go to plan. It just wasn’t Stotty’s night—he struggled to find rhythm, and Craig took full advantage, playing consistently well and giving very little away. Andy Pearson followed, facing the lively Jack Bushell. Andy had some strong moments and applied pressure in spells, but struggled with the corners, allowing Jack to take control and finish the game 21-11. Then came Peter Ogiliev’s clash with Steve Wooding, a game that went down to the wire. Peter wasn’t at his sharpest, flickering between brilliance and frustration, but neither was Woody, and the match remained tight throughout. In the end, Peter dug deep and edged it 21-20 in a dramatic finish that could’ve gone either way. The night wrapped up with Dave Basky facing Lee Fletcher. Dave couldn’t quite get to grips with the pace of the game and found himself on the back foot early. Despite his efforts, Lee maintained control and gradually pulled away, sealing a 21-10 win. When all was said and done, the final score read 144 to Lloyds and 122 to Quarry. While the result didn’t swing in our favour, the team put in a fantastic overall performance against tough opposition, especially in the first half. It was one of those nights that showed the strength, potential, and heart within the squad—plenty to be proud of, and plenty to build on for the games ahead.

Match Report
Last night served up an absolute thriller from the very first end to the last, with every game packed full of drama, intensity, and edge-of-your-seat moments. With the stakes high and pride on the line, both teams turned up fully switched on, producing what was undoubtedly one of the most gripping and fiercely contested fixtures of the season so far. Paul Drury wasted no time laying down a marker. Up against Tino, he came out composed and focused, setting the standard for the rest of the night. With pinpoint accuracy and smart shot selection, Paul controlled the pace of the game from the off. Tino struggled to match the rhythm and couldn’t quite find the form he’s capable of, while Paul delivered a near-flawless performance. His 21-13 victory was as commanding as it was crucial, providing the squad with an early boost and underlining the red-hot form he’s enjoying right now. Arguably the match of the night came when Ainsley locked horns with Andy Pearson in a tense, see-saw battle that had everything. Andy started strongly, building up a lead with sharp, confident play. But Ainsley showed true fighting spirit, refusing to let the game get away from him. With steely determination, he clawed his way back into contention, eventually edging it 21-20 in a thrilling finish. Sean Chappell continued his rich vein of form with yet another masterclass in calm, calculated bowling. Up against the ever-dangerous Pete Kelsall, Sean never looked rattled. He kept his cool under pressure, delivering bowl after bowl with control and finesse. His shot selection was spot on, his reading of the green flawless. The final score of 21-12 didn’t just reflect a win—it reflected a player operating with supreme confidence and composure.
Our new greensman, Ian Wilson, is quickly becoming a fan favourite—and with performances like this, it’s easy to see why. Facing a strong opponent in Paul Holland, Ian found himself in a tightly contested game, with neither player giving much away. But when the pressure mounted, Ian stepped up, delivering clutch bowls and showing real composure. As the game wore on, he began to pull away, eventually sealing a deserved win to 16 and further solidifying his spot as a key figure in the side.
G-man was nothing short of brilliant. Taking on Adam Rodger, he looked sharp and focused from the very first end. He dictated the tempo, took control of the mat, and didn’t give Adam a moment to settle. Adam couldn’t quite find his rhythm, and G-man capitalised, never easing off the pressure. It was a complete performance—tactically smart, technically sound, and mentally assured. For that, he fully earns my Captain’s Man of the Match award this week. Another eagerly anticipated clash saw Steve “The Machine” Gavin square off against Ian Dalton. Expectations were high, but Steve wasted no time living up to the hype. He bowled with authority and precision, setting the tone early and never looking back. Ian, despite his best efforts, just couldn’t find the consistency he needed, and Steve kept turning the screw. It was a performance full of energy and confidence, and he ran out a convincing and well-earned winner. After a tough showing at Lloyds, Dave Stott had a point to prove—and he did just that. Determined to bounce back, Dave came out firing, showing real intent and hunger. From the first bowl, he controlled the pace and dictated play, leaving Ray Shawcross chasing shadows. It was one of the sharpest displays of the night, and Dave’s emphatic 21-9 win wasn’t just a result—it was a message. The curtain came down with Todd Evans facing off against John Lawler. Todd played a solid game, showing moments of real skill and tactical awareness. But John was in a different gear. With relentless rhythm and inch-perfect line and length, he applied pressure from start to finish. Todd stayed in the fight, but John’s consistency and class shone through as he took the final win of the night, finishing to 18 and wrapping up the evening with a touch of finesse. All told, it was a night filled with passion, resilience, and outstanding individual efforts. There were moments of magic, battles of sheer willpower, and performances that will live long in the memory. Both teams played with heart and hunger, and this fixture will no doubt go down as one of the standout nights of the season.

🎯 Match Report
The evening exploded into action with a thrilling opener between David Jackson and Chris Telford. Jacko came out firing, dominating much of the game and looking set to cruise to victory. But in a dramatic late twist, Chris staged an incredible comeback, stealing the win 21-19 in a heart-stopping finish. A bitter pill for Jacko, but a cracker of a match to watch! Next to the green, Andy Pearson took on the rock-solid Ray Tulley. Ray was in top form, playing with pinpoint precision and controlling the pace beautifully. Andy battled bravely but couldn’t quite find his rhythm against a very sharp Tulley, who took a well-earned win. Then came a rollercoaster showdown: Stotty found himself down 0-11 against Allan Lowe—a mountain to climb. But in classic Stotty fashion, he dug deep, clawing his way back to 12-14 and sending a ripple of excitement through the crowd. Sadly, the magic ran out, and Allan regained control to close out the game. Sean stepped up against Jason Wright, though the effects of a certain recent Stag Night seemed to be lingering. His usual sharpness just wasn’t there, and Jason took full advantage, settling into the game early and holding firm for the win.
Martin Ogiliev delivered a measured, composed performance against Scott Turner. It wasn’t flashy, but it was smart, calm, and efficient. Martin kept his cool, controlled the tempo, and eased to a 21-12 victory. The standout match of the evening? Without question—Steve Baskerville vs Mark Newton. Steve came flying out of the traps, platting the corners with expert accuracy and charging to a 19-0 lead in no time. Just when a whitewash looked on the cards, Mark conjured a spectacular full-length wonder bowl to get on the board, but Steve stayed composed to seal a convincing win 21-4 and rightfully earns the Captain’s Man of the Match for his electric performance. G-Man took on the seasoned Tony Flanagan in a tight, tactical clash. The early ends were neck and neck, but Tony gradually turned the screw with relentless accuracy. G-Man held his ground well but ultimately fell to 13 in a well-fought contest. Wrapping up the night was Dave Baskerville against Shaun Leck in a tense, tactical finale. Dave looked in control for large spells, playing a clever, measured game. But Shaun found another gear late on and edged ahead right at the death, stealing it 21-20. Another case of "what could have been"—but a strong effort from Dave nonetheless. Overall not a disaster but could have been better, room for improvement.

B Team Match Report Legh Arms A (H}
After a difficult first week at a new green in Ellesmere the revamped B team looked to get back to winning ways at home to the newly promoted Legh Arms.
First up to the mark tonight was the new man from Cheadle Paul Holland and he quickly showed why the Quarry were happy to bring him into the side. Racing into a 16-3 lead on Graham Bentley . Graham then found some consistency with the block to fight right back into the game but Paul held his nerve on his home debut to close out a 21-16 victory. Second to the green was the ever present Ainsley Johnson who really had to hold it together and hold his nerve against a spirited performance from Cameron Mateley. Ains found the bowls when it mattered though to close it out 21-14. Third to the green was the evergreen Peter Kelsall who constantly looked like he had the match under control against Keith Royle closing it out 21-12 in the end. Closing out the first 4 was Adam Rodger , early doors it was looking like a bad night for Adam with Paul Hynes playing a great game on straight peg marks to lead 20-9, Adam though showed great composure to get the block and play Paul on a round peg mark to edge the game 21-20 in a thrilling encounter . 4 blocks 4 wins for the Quarry a great start. The second 4 started with John Lawler against Steve Hampton . In John's first match of the season in truth he struggled for consistency, maybe a bit rusty after his recent trip to Madiera . Steve though to his credit played the green very well to win the game 21-13. At block 6 there was to be a replacement for the injured Steve Booth who unfortunately had hurt his back doing Cellar work earlier on . In stepped Paul Drury and wow he did not disappoint. Paul with a great deal of control throughout raced away to a 21-7 win over Terry King . Block 7 was Malc Kettle our skipper who struggled for consistency throughout and fell 21-13 to a good performance on the green from Michael Metcalfe. Block 8 was the lively pair of Steve Gavin and Dom King. Both players struggled for consistency throughout the game but Gavin raced into a commanding 9-1 lead before Dom managed to find some good woods of his own to make it 13-13. The match from there picked up a gear and Gavin held his nerve to close it out 21-17 to preserve his good start to the season.
